Local Member for Wagin Terry Waldron MLA, has praised the prompt response by local councils, community groups and farmers after the recent violent storm experienced in our region.

“The speed at which roads were cleared is a credit to our local councils, council staff, community groups, local farmers and all who assisted immediately after the storm by way of removing fallen trees, limbs and debris from roads and assisting those with damaged houses and buildings” Mr Waldron said.
“It is times such as these that all assistance is very much appreciated and I know from speaking with Shire CEOs, all commented on the fantastic reaction from their communities to make roads and streets safe and to assist others in need,” he said.
Mr Waldron said in many areas power was cut and he praised the Western Power crews were worked extremely hard to reconnect everyone as quickly as possible.
Mr Waldron toured many Shires including Brookton, Pingelly, Wandering, Narrogin and Wagin witnessing firsthand the damage which included a large amount of trees blown down on roads and fence lines and extensive damage to houses, sheds and community buildings.
“There is no doubt councils will face large costs to clean up the aftermath and I have met with them to outline the State Governments support and how this is to be accessed.” Mr Waldron said.
“I will continue to work with our affected local councils to support them in the clean up,’ he said.
