Member for Moore, Grant Woodhams MLA has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Planning of an urban land release for Lancelin which will help stimulate population growth and economic activity.
Amendment 93 in the Shire of Gingin Town Planning Scheme No 8 will rezone 197ha of land, known as Lancelin South, for urban development and conservation.
The development proposal will provide 197ha of land for urban purposes and include some 1000 residential dwellings, 50 ha of industrial land and 22ha of conservation land and will be situated approximately 2km south of Lancelin.
Mr Woodhams is very enthusiastic about the proposal. “With the opening of the Indian Ocean Drive, now is the time for Lancelin to prosper and grow. This development will allow for this growth and provide employment opportunities.” Mr Woodhams said.
“The development will also recognise the importance of the site’s natural values by including 22ha of land to the east of the site set aside for conservation purposes as recommended by the Environmental Protection Authority”
“The development will meet the needs of the Lancelin township while also protecting the unique natural environment, making it a great place to live.” Mr Woodhams said.
The approved development proposal will now proceed with the structure planning and site investigations for servicing, water management and detailed design.
