Southern Inland Health Initiatives for Moore Electorate, Woodhams

Author: Grant Woodhams
Published on: 24-January-2012

Moore MLA Grant Woodhams has welcomed proposed capital works at WA Country Health Service sites in his Moore electorate after building condition audits have been conducted by the State Government.

The audits are the preliminary stage of a $325million capital works program being conducted under the Southern Inland Health Initiative (SIHI) to plan upgrades to district hospitals and refurbishments of small hospitals and nursing posts in regional districts.

"The Liberal-National Government’s Royalties for Regions program will spend $325million over the next five years on capital works at WA Country Health Services sites, including at Cervantes, Jurien Bay, Lancelin, Dalwallinu and Moora," Mr Woodhams said.

"Sites in these towns are being audited by a Department of Finance Building Management and Works team that includes architects, building surveyors and electrical and structural engineers."

"Priority across all regions will then be established to increase access and upgrade services, ensuring a new era in WA country health."

The $325million is augmented by $240million in Royalties for Regions’ funding into the regional health workforce.

Audit dates:

Cervantes 11 January 2012

Jurien Bay 11 January 2012

Lancelin 11 January 2012

Dalwallinu 16 January 2012

Moora 27 January 2012
