John McCourt

Senate Candidate

John is a former senior journalist with the Seven Network and News Director of the Golden West Network and now operates his own media and marketing consultancy, based in Broome (McCourt & Associates Media).

John has had a keen interest in the arts in regional WA having spent many years in the South West region and, for the past decade, the Kimberley.

John has served as a Bunbury City Councillor, and as a marketing consultant, he also co-authored a comprehensive review of the South West Region Entertainment Centre.

In Broome, John has championed the arts and local culture through his media work. He has also served on the local Shinju Matsuri committee and is currently President of the Kimberley Performing Arts Council. John possesses a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.

As a public relations specialist in the RAAF Reserve, Flight Lieutenant McCourt often finds himself flung far and wide across Australia and the world - about five years ago he became part of Defence's 1st Joint Public Affairs Unit.

John was the candidate for the seat of Kimberley in the 2008 State election.
