Lynne CraigieLynne Craigie

Candidate for Durack

About Lynne

Lynne Craigie is a small business owner and long-term Pilbara resident.

Born in Margaret River and growing up in the south west, Lynne later moved to Perth where she attended Curtin University and gained qualifications as a Psychologist. She worked in this field for many years in Perth running her own practise and raising her two children before moving to work in the Pilbara in 1997. Living in Newman with her husband, she has successfully worked providing Employee Assistance Programs since this time.

As Lynne became more involved in the community, being part of and chairing many committees, she also filled an ambition to become a councillor in Local Government. Two years into this role, in May 2005, she was elected as Shire President for the Shire of East Pilbara and has worked diligently since this time to bring about many improvements within the area.

In addition to being Shire President, Lynne is involved in many community organisations and is the Chairperson of the Pilbara Regional Council as well as being on the State Council for WALGA, Roadwise Newman, and Health Advisory Group. Lynne also represents the region on the Australian Council of Local Government.

As a small business owner, Lynne is a passionate supporter of our regional towns. Her focus is on sustainable growth for the communities of Durack.

“The Nationals are working hard for all regional Western Australians,” Mrs Craigie says.

“Our Royalties for Regions policy has inspired communities throughout our vast State and seen much-needed investment in the regions.

“By sending a National to Canberra, Western Australians can make sure WA gets its fair share of funding from the Federal Government.”
