Albany will be transformed into a world class walking and mountain biking destination if The Nationals WA are returned to government at the March election.
Candidate for Albany Robbie Sutton today committed $3.3 million to develop the Albany Heritage Park Trail Network into a tourism hub featuring some of Australia’s best trail systems.
Mr Sutton said the project would be funded by Royalties for Regions and facilitate the construction of 38km of new trails in the Albany Heritage Park.
“Albany’s geographical location, topography and rugged landscape mean it’s an amazing place to provide a unique trails experience,” Mr Sutton said.
“This investment would include the construction of new purpose built trails in the Albany Heritage Park at Mt Clarence and Mt Adelaide.
“Our region boasts unique natural coastal and inland features which are already major attractions, and this commitment will further advance the city’s renowned reputation as a tourist destination.”
Leader of The Nationals WA Brendon Grylls commended Mr Sutton on his work behind-the-scenes to secure a funding commitment to the project.
“This is another example of The Nationals’ commitment to ensuring regional communities such as Albany are great places to live, work and invest,” Mr Grylls said.
“Only The Nationals WA and Robbie Sutton can be trusted to protect Royalties for Regions to ensure this project can be delivered.”
