Community groups in the Central Wheatbelt electorate will soon have access to $4 million in funding for important environmental projects.
Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies MLA said the 2016-17 funding, available through the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Community Action Grant program, was on offer to groups including schools, not-for-profit organisations, local government and environmental action groups.
“I am pleased Royalties for Regions will invest $3.28 million to allow community groups to undertake vital natural resource management work in our regions,” Ms Davies said.
“The Community Action Grant enables community groups to undertake on-ground works that are vital to their local area.”
Two grant rounds are open to community groups, with Community Action Grants designed to support on-ground works and Community Capability Grants (small) to help build capacity, improve governance and foster innovation.
Applications for Community Action Grants close at 12pm on Monday September 5, 2016. Community Capability Grants (small) projects close at 12pm on Monday May 29, 2017, or earlier if fully subscribed.
The grants are part of a $24 million funding commitment over three years towards State Natural Resource Management, which includes a $19.2 million Royalties for Regions investment.
Previous projects to be funded through this program include connecting, protecting and expanding native vegetation in the Shire of Koorda and the Caroline Gap Resource Management Strategy overseen by WWF-Australia near Kellerberrin.
