Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies MLA has congratulated HATCH and the Northam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Women in Business for their drive and determination to create projects that will add value for Northam businesses and enhance the town’s sense of community.
She has thrown her support behind community group HATCH and their push to create a co-working space in Northam.
“There are very successful examples of co-working spaces in both the Perth metropolitan area and regional Western Australia and the Avon Valley was ripe for a flexible space for freelancers, micro and small business looking for a professional and collaborative work environment,” Ms Davies said.
“I commend the work the HATCH team are doing to establish a co-working space here in Northam.
“I have seen a similar project in Geraldton go from strength to strength over the past few years and it’s really added to the vibrancy and diversity of the community.”
Pollinators in Geraldton manages CityHive, which is the State’s leading regional co-working premise.
“I understand they are currently experiencing an increase in interest from work-from-home mums and companies that are adjusting to a downsizing economy, but they have a steady stream of freelancers and small businesses that use the space,” Ms Davies said.
Ms Davies said there would be people in the region that enjoyed working from home, but would appreciate the opportunity to network, to work from a professional space, or to bring clients to corporate meeting rooms.
“This is just another example of the great endeavour of local people working hard to make Northam and the Avon Valley a great place to live and work.”
She said the recently started Northam Farmers’ Market was another project that added to the vibrancy of the town and congratulated the Northam CCI Women in Business for the initiative.
“What’s not to love about showcasing our local produce in the newly created town square for everyone to enjoy?” she asked.
