The Nationals WA Candidate for Albany Robbie Sutton has today unveiled a $45 million plan to reduce congestion and improve road safety in Albany.
The Albany Ring Road, Range Road and Parker St/Hanrahan road, in conjunction with the implementation of the Great Southern Regional Road Strategy, have been identified as key priorities for improvement and upgrades.
Mr Sutton said he had consulted widely with stakeholders including community groups, transport operators, Main Roads and Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester to deliver the $45 million plan to ensure it would meet the needs of the Albany community.
“Increasing road train movements on suburban roads and growing congestion is not only a handbrake on Albany’s economic growth, but is also an issue of community safety,” Mr Sutton said.
“For more than 30 years, the Albany community has called for a safer and more efficient road network, and I have listened to their feedback to deliver a comprehensive pathway forward.”
Mr Sutton successfully lobbied Leader of The Nationals WA Brendon Grylls to secure The Nationals’ commitment to the project.
“I commend Mr Sutton for his hard work and passionate advocacy on behalf of the Albany community,” Mr Grylls said.
“The people of Albany need a strong local champion who is prepared to take up the fight on their behalf and Robbie Sutton is the man to do it.”
