The Nationals WA welcomes new PNP members

Leader of The Nationals WA Mia Davies MLA has congratulated incoming Member for Roe Peter Rundle MLA and Member for the Agricultural Region Hon Colin de Grussa MLC on their entry to State Parliament. 

Ms Davies said both Mr Rundle and Mr de Grussa brought extensive experience to the Parliamentary National Party (PNP) and were ready to take up the fight on behalf of regional WA.

“The PNP welcome Peter and Colin to the parliamentary team, and congratulate them on their passionate and poignant maiden speeches to the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council respectively during the first fortnight of Parliament,” Ms Davies said.

“The Nationals have a proud history of giving regional people an independent voice in State Parliament and Peter and Colin’s constituents can be confident they will continue to build on this strong record of representation over the next four years.”

Ms Davies said Mr Rundle, a farmer who heralds from Katanning, boasted a strong background in regional development having served as chair of the Great Southern Development Commission.

“Given his extensive experience in regional development, Peter understands the importance of Royalties for Regions and the vital programs and infrastructure it has delivered, and he is firmly committed to holding Labor to account in the new Parliament,” Ms Davies said.

“As a father and businessman Peter understands the issues that matter to the people of Roe and he has been clear he won’t be backing down to get them the best possible deal.”

Mr Rundle is The Nationals’ spokesperson for rural education and training, volunteering, sports and recreation, seniors and ageing, citizenship and multicultural issues.

Ms Davies also recognised Mr de Grussa’s vast experience in the agricultural sector as a father, farmer and Esperance local.

“Colin is committed to ensuring regional communities across the Agricultural Region are best placed to remain strong and vibrant into the future and is looking forward to representing them in the Upper House,” Ms Davies said.

“A third generation farmer and Nuffield Scholar, Colin has extensive knowledge of the agricultural sector, including the agri-political landscape and this will ensure the unique needs of our State’s farmers are well represented in the new parliament.”

Mr de Grussa will serve as the PNP spokesperson for agriculture and food, fisheries, emergency services, science, innovation and information communications technology and child protection.
