Three projects in the Wagin electorate will share in $420,001 through the State Government’s Regional Grants Scheme (RGS).
The Great Southern Development Commission (GSDC) announced the grant recipients of the electorate’s RGS on Friday, made possible by Royalties for Regions (RfR).
Member for Wagin Terry Waldron MLA said the RGS provided one-off grants to community, public and not-for-profit groups to enhance and develop regional infrastructure and services.
“I’m pleased that three worthy local projects have been identified to share in $420,001 in funding during this round of the scheme,” Mr Waldron said.
“The RGS-funded projects will benefit the localities of Cranbrook, Katanning and Bremer Bay and I congratulate the recipients on their successful applications.”
Mr Waldron said the scheme provided grants of between $50,001 and $300,000 to support region-specific projects that were driven by local communities.
“The RGS is an RfR-funded initiative that aims to improve economic and community infrastructure and services across regional Western Australia,” he said.
Nationals WA candidate for Roe and former GSDC Chair Peter Rundle said the RGS played an important role in assisting to attract investment and improve quality of life in the regions.
“This funding will support dedicated community organisations to make the Great Southern region a better place to live and will contribute towards the region’s sustainability,” Mr Rundle said.
“It’s thanks to Royalties for Regions continuing to invest in a diverse ranges of projects like these that the Great Southern region’s liveability is continuing to be enhanced.”
The State Government, through the RfR program, will invest $10 million into the Regional Grants Scheme for the 2016-17 financial year. Local project information is listed below –
