Mid West Sports Federation (MWSF) are the latest Geraldton recipients of the Mid West region’s Community Chest Fund (CCF), made possible by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.
MWSF have received $20,000 to facilitate a 12 month governance training program in support of our local sporting organisations.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Mia Davies MLA, representing the Minister for Regional Development Terry Redman MLA and Nationals WA MP and candidate for the seat of Geraldton, Paul Brown visited MWSF to present the cheque and receive a briefing on the project.
“Sport plays a vital role in the social fabric of our community and functions on a large volunteer base,” Mr Brown said.
“For some of these volunteers, stepping up onto the board of their sporting organisation can be daunting, and governance training will be greatly welcomed. I congratulate the MWSF on identifying this need, working on a solution, and being successful in what was a highly competitive CCF funding round.”
Mr Brown said the Community Chest Fund provided one-off grants of up to $50,000 to community groups, local governments and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.
“Hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years.” Mr Brown said.
