About Delma

Growing up on the family farm in the Great Southern, and raising two daughters in Albany, I appreciate the amazing lifestyle our community offers – it is the best of city and country.

I am a connected and respected Albany local with a long history of community volunteering, board membership and business success. In the professional sphere I’m a director in a successful town planning company and, with my husband, I run Albany Laserscape, so I understand business in our region.

We have a diverse electorate and I understand and communicate with many sections of the community. I value and respect Albany’s history, lifestyle and environment. As a consequence, I have the knowledge, experience and skills to be your representative

My focus for Albany is on local industry development and sustainable growth. I’m keen to ensure decisions, policies and actions support and protect small business and primary producers. As a positive and progressive person, I’m eager to see this amazing area, and its people, continue to grow and prosper.

In this campaign my priorities include – sustainable growth with local industry innovation and development, a commitment to preserve natural resources, to advocate for small businesses, to support renewable energy, local education, arts and culture, and recreation.

I pledge to provide strong community representation and I listen before making informed decisions with integrity, compassion and cooperation.

I will be a strong voice for Albany.

About Darren

My vision is one of compassion and dedication to achieve the best outcomes for the people of Albany. With extensive experience in the community and working in and with small businesses, I want to bring a fresh and locally-centred perspective to politics.

I believe you should always be quick to lend a hand – it’s just what you do. That philosophy will drive me as your representative for Albany. Community work has been a constant in my life. I love working with people from diverse backgrounds towards a common goal and getting to understand the perspectives of others. And when I take on a challenge, I do it with conviction and focus.

I chose Albany as my home because of the wonderful opportunities the city offered me and my family.

Originally from the Perth hills, I enjoyed exploring orchards and a love of land sports. After completing a degree, I managed recreation facilities and began a lifelong commitment to mentoring youth, running events focused on mental and physical health.

Professionally, I moved to London to run a personal training business and after living abroad I realised my true love for WA and decided to return and settle in Albany, taking up a position in business banking.

With family in the area, it was an easy transition that offered an opportunity to instil in our three children a sense of community, civic duty, and empathy.

As your representative in State Parliament I would strive to ensure Albany and our region continues to thrive.

About Rod

I was born and raised in regional South Australia but 11 years ago I saw the great benefits of living in Albany and moved the family west. It was a wonderful decision as we have appreciated what the city and the region have offered. My amazing wife and three kids are so happy to now call Albany home.

Growing up I was heavily involved in sport, becoming an elite athlete and national-level coach. I later put this dedication to success in my work career and business endeavours.

I moved to the not-for-profit sector with Foodbank and here I found my true passion, helping those in need. I became chairman of the Albany Crisis Relief Agencies network and have been involved in community engagement activities and volunteering. Through these roles I have gained a great understanding of our region, its personalities, challenges and strengths.

The choice to pursue this opportunity with The Nationals WA was easy. It is the chance to take my community work to the next level and to do it with the support of a party that encourages me to hold fast to my cornerstone values.

My commitment to our city is to continue working hard for the community, to bring back our fair share of Royalties for Regions and to stand firm on what is right for our Amazing Albany.
