The Nationals WA have spent more than 100 years championing regional development – it’s a cornerstone of who we are and what we believe in.
We always put community at the heart of regional development. You should be welcomed to work with local leaders and design a long-term vision for where a community could be in 10, 20, 30 years.
This is part of why we announced the establishment of Special Activation Precincts, a development mechanism designed to identify a region’s natural opportunity, get the settings right, and get out of the way. Let the community lead the way.
No one does regional development like The Nationals. We elevate local innovation and trust local voices. We listen to local leaders and always think of the long-term.
We’ve been in this space for more than a century, and we’re not going anywhere.
Royalties for Regions
The Nationals WA created Royalties for Regions in 2008 to ensure regional communities receive their fair share of the state’s wealth. This visionary program has delivered billions in funding for vital projects – including better hospitals, schools, roads, and essential services.
Under WA Labor, Royalties for Regions has been gutted, with funds diverted to Perth-based projects instead of supporting the communities that generate WA’s prosperity.
Only The Nationals WA will restore and reform Royalties for Regions, delivering real investment in local infrastructure, regional healthcare, education, and job-creating projects – because strong regions mean a stronger Western Australia.
The reforms are crucial to protect the Fund, to ensure no future Government can gut the programs as Labor have.
We will also deliver the transformative funds to communities in the Hills regions, who have long been cut off from the opportunity and development Royalties for Regions can deliver.
Northern WA
Northern WA is the engine room of the Nation – generating most of the wealth of our State. Our mining and resource operations across the region put us on the map for investment and drive billion upon billions in productivity.
It is a region which supports thousands of Australian jobs and support families from the Pilbara to Perth.
It is also home to some of our most vulnerable West Australians, reporting dangerous health outcomes, hard to reach educational success and frankly some of the most dilapidated infrastructure in the State.
A region so rich in resources, should mean more to us than treasury dollars and FIFO opportunity.
The Nationals WA have committed to establish a standalone Agency and Minister for Northern Western Australia to ensure there is always someone at the table thinking beyond the dollars to the opportunity which lays ahead for this region.
Long term vision and commitment – that’s what the Nationals will deliver for the North.
