WA’s road toll is among the worst in the country, with regional areas facing the highest rates of serious crashes and fatalities. The Nationals WA are committed to making regional roads safer by investing in infrastructure, improving road maintenance, and ensuring better driver education and enforcement.
Poor road safety impacts tourism, productivity and above all, is altering people’s lives.
Our $276 million Safer Local Roads program will provide targeted upgrades to high-risk roads, while we continue to fight for better road funding for local governments.
We will also mandate lighting on all trains in WA to reduce collisions at rail crossings while developing stronger road safety initiatives, better emergency response times, and enhanced rest-stop facilities for long-distance drivers.
