Rundle calls for Emergency Services Minister to do his job
Member for Roe, Peter Rundle MLA has called on the Minister for Emergency
Services, Hon Fran Logan MLA, to do his job and stand by the business owners in
bushfire affected areas in his Electorate of Roe.
As of today, Minister Logan had not acknowledged the dire position businesses are
facing with little or no income as they wait for their fire devastated areas to resume
operations.
Mr Rundle said that all the Minister needed to do was lodge an application with the
Federal Minister for Emergency Management to alleviate the financial obligations
business owners face with the Australian Taxation Office.
“I cannot understand why the Minister has not done his due diligence in this matter
and responded to the requests to inform the Federal Government of the need for
support in our fire affected areas. The businesses in the Stirling Ranges area are
suffering but many other areas of WA are in urgent need of this assistance as well.
“It is not only the Minister for Emergency Services who is at fault. The Premier is also
able to lodge these applications and has not done so.” Mr Rundle said.
“Again we see the Labor Government failing the regions with their disregard for what
is really happening outside the metropolitan area.”
Mr Rundle calls on the Minister and the Premier to fill out the paperwork and get
some relief for the fire affected businesses in WA.
