Whilst telecommunications is ultimately a Federal responsibility, if regional Western Australia is to receive better mobile and internet coverage then our State Government needs to assist through additional investment.
The Nationals WA support funding from the State to leverage Federal investment in regional telecommunications to maximise the safety, social and economic benefits for the public. This means appropriate mobile telecommunication services in regional WA through the establishment of mobile phone towers in small communities and at strategic locations across regional WA
2020 State Conference Motion – The Nationals WA call on the State and Federal Governments to develop minimum network standards for mobile network performance and develop initiatives and policies to deploy standalone power solutions to improve reliability of the increasingly critical network; and to ensure internet service providers provide a level of default security services to their customers.
