Member for Moore Shane Love MLA has welcomed Building Better Regions funding worth $500,000 announced recently for the Three Springs Early Childhood Learning Centre. The $1.63 million Three Springs child care facility was granted $300,000 Royalties for Regions funding in the last term of government and Lotterywest funding of $250,000.
Mr Love said a Shire of Three Springs study conducted in 2015 had established the need and viability of a centre that could provide early childhood education and care in the district.
“The existing child care centre in Three Springs has capacity for 12 children but was frequently booked out and not able to meet demand from Three Springs and surrounding districts,” Mr Love said.
“The need for the facility was clear and I have been a strong supporter of this project from the outset.”
Mr Love said while the staff and committee had provided a valuable service at the existing site up to now, the facilities at this centre were cramped and not ideal for such a service.
“The Three Springs Shire and community have worked hard to get this project to this stage and I commend their foresight in co-locating consulting rooms for visiting allied health professionals at this site,” he added.
The Three Springs Early Childhood Centre will be located on the Three Springs Primary School grounds, offering primary school students easy access to these same health professionals.
Mr Love said a quality childcare service was a huge asset to a community, enabling parents to engage in the workforce and contributing to the economic and social wellbeing of the district and improving a town’s liveability.
