Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies MLA has congratulated four local school staff members, after they were named as finalists in the prestigious WA Education Awards.
Ms Davies said the WA Education Awards celebrated top educators that contributed to providing every child in WA with a high quality education – whatever their ability, location or background.
“Congratulations to Jacqui McNamara and Wayne McNamara, of York District High School, Marie Walker, of Beverley District High School and Darryl McCart, from the Western Australian College of Agriculture – Cunderdin who were named as finalists last week,” she said.
“The high number of regional finalists is testament to the passion and dedication of teachers and schools across the Central Wheatbelt and regional WA.
“It is important we honour the outstanding contribution of staff at our regional public schools.”
Ms Davies said the impact a teacher could have on shaping the foundation of a young person’s life should never be underestimated and the awards were an opportunity for acknowledgement of their role in our community.
“These awards reflect that there are many in the profession that are willing to go above and beyond to support and nurture our kids,” she said.
“Regardless of whether these teachers receive the award, it is a fantastic outcome for the community to understand the calibre of educators we have here in the electorate.”
Award winners will be announced on Monday November 28, 2016.
