Rob Horstman

Candidate for the Agricultural Region

Rob is originally from Bristol in the UK, however, moved to Australia aged 10 and has called regional Western Australia home for the last 11 years.

His role as an executive account manager with research-based pharmaceutical company Janssen has enabled Rob to pursue his passion for providing mental health education to rural and remote communities around Australia, working in partnership with regionally based not-for-profit organisations.

Rob is a recipient of a scholarship for the Australian Rural Leadership Program, which he will complete in 2021. He lives with his family – wife Jess and kids Amelie, Zach and Anna – on a sheep and wheat property east of Northampton where he has been an active volunteer in the community. The farm has been run by the Hasleby family since 1950.

On the side he writes the Diary of a Farmer’s Husband blog, which shares reflections on being a city boy discovering what country life is all about. Rob is keen to further his capacity as a strong advocate for mental health initiatives throughout regional Australia.
