Leader of the Nationals WA and Shadow Minister for Electoral Affairs, Shane Love MLA, is inviting West Australians to share their recent voting experiences to assist the imminent Special Inquiry into the planning and delivery of the 2025 State Election.
“The handling of the 2025 State Election exposed a very real threat to the integrity of our State’s democratic processes. This must not be allowed to occur again,” Mr Love said.
“With the opening of submissions to the inquiry, I encourage every voter who was turned away, given a hand drawn ballot, ticked off the role without being able to vote – whatever you experienced on the day, to make a submission.
“This isn’t just a call to voters, feedback from the staff we rely upon to facilitate the election itself is important. Booth workers and vote counters, whatever your role – make your experience known.
“As Shadow Minister for Electoral Affairs, I’ll be watching this process closely. West Australian’s deserve to go to the booth with confidence their vote means something.
“The electoral integrity of our State must be protected – this Inquiry is a step in the right direction.
Mr Love said with such a limited timeframe for submissions, West Australians needed to act swiftly to ensure their experiences are taken into account.
“Submissions close on Friday 9 May 2025 at 4 pm so time is of the essence. This is our chance to ensure the 2029 State Election is done differently.”
