The historic Southern Brook Hall, nestled amongst the rolling paddocks of the Avon Valley, was a fitting setting for The Nationals WA Central Wheatbelt team to host their first ‘Bush, Band & BBQ’ event.
Local MP Mia Davies and Member for the Agricultural Region Hon Martin Aldridge, along with Young Nationals State President Lachlan Hunter (Bruce Rock), mingled with more than 100 Nationals WA members, supporters and community members to enjoy a spectacular spring afternoon in the Avon Valley.
Ms Davies said there was plenty to keep people entertained with great food, a local band, a silent auction and fantastic company.
“Our intention was to create a relaxed, family friendly environment for people to enjoy and I think everyone loved the setting at the beautiful hall,” Ms Davies said.
“It was also an opportunity for people to come along and meet The Nationals WA Central Wheatbelt team, who work hard to support myself and Hon Martin Aldridge as Parliamentary members in the community, right across the electorate.
“The Nationals WA are a dynamic team and we have members and supporters from a broad cross-section of the community, including small business, the agricultural sector, not-for-profits and many others.
“Our politics is based around geography rather than ideology, and it’s great to see a diverse range of people, young and old, interested in what we’re doing.”
Mr Aldridge said they were humbled by the support from the community, especially those who attended and donated items for the silent auction.
“There were more than 50 items up for sale as part of the silent auction, which was terrific, we sincerely thank people for their generosity,” he said.
Ms Davies thanked everyone who assisted to put the event together and ensured the evening ran smoothly.
“A huge thanks to Kathy and Dennis Saunders (Southern Brook), Rob Tinetti (Northam) and Heather Giles (Merredin) for all their hard work, and were instrumental to the event’s success,” she said.
“Thanks also to the band members of F.I.I.K who had everyone up dancing or tapping their feet as they relaxed with friends and family.”
