- Wheatbelt region’s Community Chest Fund grant recipients announced
- Community projects funded by $10 million investment over four years
- Made possible by the Government’s Royalties for Regions program
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman today announced the successful recipients of the Wheatbelt region’s Community Chest Fund, made possible by the Liberal National Government’s Royalties for Regions program.
Mr Redman said the fund provided one-off grants to community groups, local governments and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.
“The Community Chest Fund provides voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects,” he said.
“Included in this round of funding is $50,000 towards the Moora Men’s Shed for a secure workable space to accommodate operations and $49,950 to install a lift at the New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery, improving access for museum and art gallery patrons.
“The Seabrook Aboriginal Corporation will receive $47,640 to upgrade tourist facilities at Boyagin Rock and the Wheatbelt Science Hub have been granted $48,779 to create a Wheatbelt Science Trail for tourists and students in the region.”
The Minister said the fund supported region-specific priorities driven by local communities to develop infrastructure, services and community projects that helped build vibrant regions with strong economies.
“These projects will help to attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the Wheatbelt region,” he said.
“Hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years.”
WA’s nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the CCF grants.
The Liberal National Government, through the Royalties for Regions program, has invested $10 million into the Community Chest Fund over the next four years.
