NATIONALS Member for the South West Region, Colin Holt MLC, is looking forward to the $30,000 Bunbury heat of the Inaugural Regional Championships this Sunday 20th November at Bunbury Turf Club and the Regional Championships Final at Ascot on Saturday 26th November.
“The Regional Championships is a fantastic stepping stone for local owners and trainers as they compete against the best of the South West for the chance to take on the rest of the State at Ascot” Mr Holt said.
“During my time as Racing and Gaming Minister I had several discussions with Perth Racing and Racing and Wagering Western Australia about the possibility of a ‘country day’ at the city races,” Mr Holt said. “It’s great to see the idea come to fruition and I thank Perth Racing for embracing the concept”.
As part of the inaugural Regional Championships, to be held at Ascot prior to the running of the Winterbottom Stakes on Saturday, November 26, Perth Racing is bringing the best of the country to the city, with pop up stalls showcasing boutique Regional producers and the highly anticipated Inaugural WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field final.
Mr Holt encouraged fashionistas to make the journey up the Forrest or South West Highway to see the inaugural WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field final. The regional finalists – including South West hope Ainslie Jackson – will battle it out to win prizes valued at more than $25,000, including a seven-night Racing Holiday and Spending Spree in Hong Kong.
Mr Holt said Perth Racing had been kind enough to grant free entry to all members of regional WA thoroughbred racing clubs for the Winterbottom Stakes.
