Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies MLA has congratulated two Mukinbudin sisters who have received an Australian award for their efforts in fundraising and promoting stroke awareness.
“Mukinbudin sisters Rebecca Clarke and Katie Sippe have won the Fundraiser of the Year category at the 2016 Stroke Awards,” Ms Davies said.
“They raised an incredible $12,000 in the fight against stroke.
“This is a great accomplishment and I congratulate them on their exceptional efforts.”
Last year their mother Annie suffered a series of strokes which caused her to go from living independently on the family farm to needing 24-hour care.
The sisters said watching their mother’s battle with stroke was the hardest thing they’d ever experienced.
They formed “Annie’s A Team” and decided to raise stroke awareness by sharing their story and running 12 kilometres in Perth’s HBF Run for a Reason, this year.
The Fundraiser of the Year award is one of five categories in the 2016 Stroke Awards and recognises individuals who have gone above and beyond in fundraising for the Stroke Foundation.
