Member for Warren-Blackwood, Terry Redman was delighted to make a $15,600 Lotterywest presentation to the Peaceful Bay Sea Rescue Group on Friday 2 September. The grant will go towards equipment to support and enhance the marine rescue services in Peaceful Bay and surrounding communities.
Mr Redman acknowledged the dedicated volunteers who maintain the equipment and at a moment’s notice come to the aid of mariners in trouble on the water.
“Not only do you provide rescue services, you also promote safety on the water through education and ‘having a chat’ with boat owners,” Mr Redman said.
“It is important that this active volunteer group has suitable equipment to undertake search and rescue work along the often dangerous southern coastline.”
Mr Redman added that Western Australia is fortunate to have Lotterywest where proceeds are distributed directly to the community.
