Merome Beard, The Nationals WA Candidate for North West Central, has urged residents in Tom Price, Onslow, Pannawonica and Paraburdoo to vote on 17 September.
“Fundamental services and facilities need to be available but despite a $5.7 billion surplus still this Labor government drags it’s feet – housing, education, childcare, health, police and safety, and community” Ms Beard.
“The lack of services and facilities in our wealth producing regions is an absolute insult.”
After being preselected in June, Merome has spoken to residents and businesses across the Shire of Ashburton.
“It’s clear that Tom Price has been disregarded, with the new hospital delayed indefinitely, seemingly with a reduction in the number of beds to be provided, while the derelict Paraburdoo Hospital remains in dis-repair. It’s not just the buildings in either town, but it’s also making sure there’s the staff and housing required to manage these services.” Ms Beard said.
“When you look at police stations, the Onslow Station is a sub-standard facility with staff servicing an area where industry is rapidly growing so the need for quality facilities, better housing for government workers and new infrastructure is critical.”
“It’s ridiculous that the 43 year old Onslow Police Station has not been replaced and absolutely needs to be” Ms Beard said.
Leisure and recreation continues to be attacked by an out of touch and cashed up government, as seen by the lack of funding for the Onslow boat ramp.
“The Onslow boat ramp is still $4 million short. The project is vital to the future vision of Onslow both as a tourist destination and for commercial use.” Ms Beard said.
“I live with these issues every day as a local resident in North West Central.”
“Premier, Mark McGowan won’t come to our towns, so I’ll take the fight to Perth. On 17 September, it’s time to send a message to Labor and think local, vote National.”
