Member for Warren-Blackwood, Terry Redman is pleased the Margaret River Perimeter Road opened in time for the busy summer holiday season.
The community has pushed for a by-pass for nearly 30 years, and when in Government, the Nationals instigated the project through the Royalties for Regions initiative.
“I am immensely proud of this project that will improve the town amenity and increase the safety of pedestrians,” Mr Redman said.
The completed bypass will ensure 800 heavy vehicles per day circumvent Margaret River, meaning truck drivers no longer need to navigate the busy town centre.
Mr Redman said, “Royalties for Regions funding has delivered what it was designed to deliver – a quality project to regional WA.”
“Now the Liberal-National government’s investments are nearing completion, it is time to ask the McGowan Labor Government what new projects they have planned for regional WA and in particular the South West.”
