Child care services in the Mining and Pastoral Region will be bolstered by a $3 million investment into enhancing the sustainability and quality of child care services across regional Western Australia, thanks to Royalties for Regions.
Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region Dave Grills MLC said today’s announcement would fund the second stage of the Regional Community Child Care Development Fund which aimed to improve the long-term viability and quality of services.
“Thanks to Royalties for Regions, residents from the Kimberley to the Goldfields-Esperance region have access to quality child care services, giving regional families the same opportunities to thrive as in the metropolitan area,” Mr Grills said.
“Often child care services in regional WA require extra support to improve their amenities and remain sustainable.
“This funding will help implement the Education and Care Services Plan for Regional Western Australia which will set out strategies to address the unique challenges faced by communities and service providers across the Mining and Pastoral Region.”
Nationals WA Candidate for Kalgoorlie Tony Crook said quality child care options enabled parents to participate in the workforce and helped make the Goldfields a more attractive place to live for young families.
“Royalties for Regions is helping to improve the quality of life for local residents through the provision of quality services,” Mr Crook said.
“Adequate child care is vital to making our region as family friendly as possible and encouraging more people to call the Goldfields home.
“Such Royalties for Regions investment is closing the services gap between the city and regional WA. We must protect the integrity of Royalties for Regions and ensure that the Goldfields and other regions continue to receive the investment they need.”
