Member for Kalgoorlie, Wendy Duncan MLA is calling on local governments, voluntary and community organisations along with educational institutions and philanthropic foundations to submit their projects for financial assistance through the latest round of Royalties for Regions Regional Grants Scheme (RGS) and Community Chest Fund (CCF) currently available.
Ms Duncan said that both grant programs were about supporting local projects that help provide improved facilities and services to the region, with many local organisations benefiting from these grants in the past.
Both funds can be used to assist with the development of infrastructure, services and community projects that will enhance the provision of social and economic benefits to regional communities.
Ms Duncan said that the Community Chest Fund was for projects under $50,000 and other larger projects requiring funding between $50,001 and $300,000 should apply for the Regional Grants Scheme, however applicants were not able to apply for funding under both avenues.
“Some of the more recent projects undertaken with RGS and CCF monies include restoration works for the Sons of Gwalia headframe in Leonora and a Nature Play Area for the Kalgoorlie Central Play Group,” Ms Duncan said.
“The range and scope of the successful projects through these funding programs demonstrates the difference that Royalties for Regions is making to our local communities; from our daycare centres to our large tourism projects.”
Ms Duncan said that applications for the Regional Grants Scheme and Community Chest Fund are currently open and they must be submitted by 5pm on 22 September 2016.
