Member for Roe Peter Rundle MLA encourages Esperance residents to have their say on the draft concept designs recently released by the Shire of Esperance for a replacement jetty.
The draft concept designs are for a 400m jetty that incorporates a timber historic section, a cement fishing jetty, a widened jetty head and a lowered diving deck.
Mr Rundle said the Esperance community weren’t satisfied with the previous concept designs, and had made their opinions heard.
“It was obvious that the previous concept design did not meet the community’s expectations, and they expected the Shire to go back to the drawing board,” Mr Rundle said.
“The community have made it clear to me how strongly they feel about the jetty, and how they want any refurbished or replacement structure to retain as much of the original design as possible.
“The jetty is iconic, and retaining its heritage values is imperative.”
Mr Rundle encouraged people to provide feedback on draft concept designs.
“This is the chance for the community to have their say on what they think of these designs, what they like, what they don’t like and what they’d like to see included.
“It’s very important that the community uses this opportunity to provide formal feedback to the Shire on how important the jetty is to them.”
To view the draft concept designs and to provide feedback visit www.esperance.wa.gov.au Information stands will also be held at the Boulevard Shopping Centre, Post Office Square and the Museum Village Markets.
