The Nationals WA have announced Bruce Rock local and Nationals WA Treasurer Lisa Cole as the Federal candidate for Durack.
State President James Hayward welcomed Ms Cole to the Federal campaign team.
“As a mother and a strong regional champion, Lisa will bring a fresh perspective to our campaign team,” Mr Hayward said.
“A member of The Nationals WA State Executive, Lisa has been a long-serving advocate of regional WA, and she’ll continue to bring her passion, energy and experience to the role as the candidate for Durack.”
Ms Cole said she looked forward to campaigning with The Nationals WA team.
“Issues like the distribution of GST returns, the impact of FIFO workforces on regional communities and getting rid of the Backpacker Tax are important challenges that I’m prepared to fight for in Canberra.”
Ms Cole said education would also be a top priority for her campaign.
“As a mother with children from regional WA, issues like health, education and childcare are also really important to me, as they are for many Durack residents.
“Access to quality local education is really important, as some families have to send their children away from home from a young age to access high-school, which can be quite challenging for students and their families.”
Ms Cole said social issues and remote communities were also areas she would like to see a greater Federal focus on.
“As one of the largest electorates in the world, there is no shortage of issues, challenges and opportunities in Durack.
“Both major parties have failed to stand up for regional WA on issues that count, like the GST and the Backpacker Tax. I’m looking forward to giving the people of Durack a strong voice in Canberra.”
Ms Cole has a Certificate in Business Administration and is currently studying her MBA. She has three children.
Ms Cole will join The Nationals WA Federal candidates including Candidate for O’Connor John Hassell and Senate Candidates Kado Muir, Nick Fardell and Elizabeth Re.
