Candidate for Roe, Peter Rundle, has reaffirmed The Nationals WA’s commitment to culture and the arts across regional WA and reflected on the Party’s strong record of delivery since forming Government in 2008.
Mr Rundle said The Nationals WA had ensured events ranging from community-based arts and culture programs to larger regional events had received vital ongoing support through the Party’s flagship Royalties for Regions program.
“Through our hugely successful Royalties for Regions program we have delivered unprecedented investment into regional arts programs such as the Creative Regions Program, Community Chest Fund, Regional Grants Scheme and Country Local Government Fund,” Mr Rundle said.
“Culture and the arts are important to building vibrant regional communities by improving quality of life and helping to attract investment and create jobs.”
Mr Rundle said the grants supported a diverse range of projects in Roe including:
• $351,437 for the Redevelopment of Katanning Town Hall
• $626,011 for the Wagin Historical Village upgrade works
• $600,485 for the Gnowangerup arts & crafts building repairs
• $605,275 for the Construction of new spectator seating at Frankland River and Frederick Square in the Shire of Cranbrook
“It has been fantastic to see Royalties for Regions transforming the lives of regional West Australians and their communities,” Mr Rundle said.
“The Nationals WA are the only political party solely focussed on regional WA, and the only party able to safeguard Royalties for Regions.
“The major parties didn’t support Royalties for Regions in 2008 and now they want to change it to fund their big ticket promises in the city.
“The only way to ensure this vital investment into regional culture and arts program is to vote for The Nationals WA in both houses at the State election.”
