NATIONALS Member for the South West Region, Colin Holt MLC, has today announced that the Shire of Murray is a successful recipient of the Regional Venues Improvement Fund grant.
The Regional Venues Improvement Fund (RVIF) is part of the State Government’s $24 million investment over four years in regional culture and arts through the Creative Regions Program, made possible by Royalties for Regions.
Mr Holt said $2.09 million in grants had been provided in the latest round of RVIF to improve facilities at performing arts venues across regional Western Australia.
“In this round of RVIF grants, the Shire of Murray has received $90,743 to upgrade their Civic Centre and Green Room,” Mr Holt said.
“The improvements will include the installation of a new ceiling and ducted air-conditioning, a tannoy system and provision of full length wool and fire retardant curtains. The improvements will enable the enhancement of current performances, facilitate an increase in attendance numbers and attract touring performances”.
Mr Holt said the fund helped to improve facilities at regional performing arts venues to better accommodate regional performing arts organisations and artists, as well as enabling more performing arts groups to tour the regions.
“These grants are developing tangible outcomes which support the development of culture and the arts in the South West” Mr Holt said.
The third round of RVIF grants opens on Monday 30 January, 2017 and will focus on improving the functionality of regional performing arts venues as well as upgrading technical equipment.
