The Dryandra Regional Equestrian Association has been awarded a $50,000 grant through the State Government’s Community Chest Fund (CCF).
Local Member Terry Waldron said the funding, made possible by the Royalties for Regions program, has been provided for a horse yard cover for the local association.
Mr Waldron’s Nationals WA colleague and Regional Development Minister Terry Redman announced the successful recipients of the Wheatbelt region’s CCF program on Thursday.
Mr Waldron said the (CCF) fund provided one-off grants to community groups, local governments and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.
“The Community Chest Fund provides regional voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects,” he said.
“I’m delighted that the local Dryandra Regional Equestrian Centre, which is located in the Shire of Cuballing, has been awarded the full grant amount for their important upgrades, as part of this latest round.”
Nationals WA candidate for Roe Peter Rundle also welcomed the funding for the local equestrian centre.
Mr Rundle said a number of “excellent projects” had been recognised through this round of the Wheatbelt CCF program.
“These projects will help attract investment, foster economic growth, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the region,” he said.
Mr Waldron said the fund supported region-specific priorities driven by local communities to develop infrastructure, services and community projects that helped build vibrant regions with strong economies.
WA’s nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the CCF grants.
As former Chair of the Great Southern Development Commission (GSDC), Mr Rundle said he was aware of hundreds of diverse projects and organisations right across regional WA, which had significantly benefited from the CCF initiative in recent years.
Through the Royalties for Regions program, the State Government has invested $10 million into the CCF (across four years).
