The Nationals WA Candidate for Collie-Preston Monique Warnock has today announced a significant $3.7 million commitment to upgrade the Collie Motorplex.
The announcement will be funded by Royalties for Regions and Department of Sport and Recreation funding if The Nationals WA are elected in March.
Ms Warnock said the Motorplex would be a major boon for the Collie community, affording the town the opportunity to host marquee motorsport events, provide driver training, and boost motor-sports activities in the South West.
“Collie residents enjoy our existing motorsport complex which gives people the opportunity to train and compete in an exciting sport in a safe environment,” Ms Warnock said.
“However, vital upgrades will enable the community to capitalise on the enormous potential to drive tourism in the region.”
The Collie Motorplex upgrade will include an upgrade of the existing track, marshalling area and spectator facilities, a pedestrian bridge, a drag strip, drift circuit, as well as amenity and equipment upgrades.
Mr Grylls thanked Ms Warnock for her proactive lobbying to secure a commitment to this important project.
“Monique has worked with our Ministers to deliver not only the reallocation of the initial funding, but now a new commitment to make the Collie Motorplex a hub for motorsport activity in the South West,” Mr Grylls said.
Mr Grylls said The Nationals WA are the only political party solely focussed on regional WA, and the only party able to protect Royalties for Regions.
“The only way to make the Collie Motorplex happen is to vote for Monique Warnock and The Nationals WA,” Mr Grylls said.
