The Nationals WA will invest $10 million to implement the recommendations of the ‘Reimagining Collie’ Report if returned to Government at the State election.
The ‘Reimagining Collie’ Report was developed by the South West Development Commission in partnership with the Shire of Collie and was released in December 2016, setting out key investment priorities to secure the economic future of the town.
The Nationals WA Candidate for Collie Preston Monique Warnock said the Report made five recommendations, including the development of an economic diversification plan.
“Our $10 million plan will include the provision of an Economic Development Manager and an Economic Transition coordinator who will fund industry research and develop business cases for key development projects,” Ms Warnock said.
“These positions will also provide education development support and increasing business and entrepreneurial skills as well as stakeholder engagement and communication.”
Ms Warnock said the $10 million investment would create job opportunities and diversify the local economy.
“This plan is an exciting opportunity for Collie, and if elected I will fight hard to ensure our town has a strong voice at the decision making table in State Parliament,” Ms Warnock said.
Ms Warnock was joined by Leader of The Nationals WA Brendon Grylls and Member for Warren Blackwood for the announcement in Collie today.
“Monique is a passionate community advocate and is working hard to secure a bright future for Collie,” Mr Grylls said.
“This is just another example of The Nationals’ commitment to take up the fight on behalf of regional WA to ensure communities are great places to live work and invest.”
