Students in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and surrounding suburbs will have access to better educational opportunities and outcomes through the redevelopment of the Kalgoorlie- Boulder Community High School and Education Support Centre.
Member for Kalgoorlie, Wendy Duncan MLA along with Minister for Education the Hon Peter Collier MLC said that the $45 million Royalties for Regions investment, through the Goldfields- Esperance Revitalisation initiative, will enable appropriate teaching catering to individual learning needs and complemented with facilities conducive to modern teaching practices.
The project, once fully completed, will result in the construction of new facilities for students in years 7-10, including:
o Three classroom blocks for student years 7-9.
o Visual arts centre.
o Cafeteria.
o Change rooms and associated amenities in the sports hall.
o Education support classrooms and specialist facilities for students with
disability.
It also includes refurbishment of:
o Classrooms to create new science laboratories.
o Amenities in the sports hall.
o Partsofthedesigntechnologyarea.
o General classroom spaces to appropriate standards.
“The project will provide the opportunity to retain teaching staff and administrators, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning,” Ms Duncan said.
“It truly is a working and learning environment that the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community can be proud of and demonstrates the difference that Royalties for Regions is continuing to make at our regional, local levels.”
“The construction of the new high school was a promise from the last State election and I am very proud to see it fulfilled,” said Ms Duncan.
