Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region Dave Grills MLC has welcomed more than $2 million for 28 Kimberley community groups, thanks to the latest rounds of the Royalties for Regions Community Chest Fund (CCF) and Regional Grants Scheme (RGS).
Mr Grills said the State Government’s CCF funding program offered one-off grants to community, public and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the regions.
Mr Grills said that through the CCF’s latest grants $393,531 was to be shared between 15 groups to benefit Kimberley region communities.
“The Community Chest Fund provides voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community groups with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects,” he said.

Mr Grills said the RGS assisted in attracting investment, increasing job opportunities and improving quality of life in the regions.
“Thirteen projects worth more than $1.6 million have been identified for funding in the Kimberley through this round of the Regional Grants Scheme,” he said.
Mr Grills said the RGS offered grants of between $50,001 and $300,000 to support region-specific projects that were driven by local communities.
“I’m pleased a range of local community projects have been successful through the grants application process, as funding through the latest RGS and CCF rounds will be of great assistance to them in terms of implementing the worthy projects, he said.

Nationals WA candidate for the Kimberley Rob Houston said the $2 million CCF and RGS investment would assist to create more vibrant Kimberley communities.
“This is an excellent example of Royalties for Regions providing funding to projects that will boost local economies and provide job opportunities,” Mr Houston said.
“I thank the Kimberley Development Commission board for selecting these great projects.”
Royalties for Regions will invest $10 million over four years into the CCF and a further $10 million into the RGS during 2016-17.
