The State Government’s Royalties for Regions Regional Grants Scheme (RGS) and Community Chest Fund (CCF) have opened for another round of funding, this month.
Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region Dave Grills MLC said the RGS and CCF programs supported local projects that helped to provide improved facilities and services in regional communities.
“The grant programs provide voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations with grants of up to $50,000 for CCF, and between $50,001 to $300,000 for RGS,” Mr Grills said.
“This funding supports region-specific projects that are driven by local communities to assist the development of infrastructure and services that help to build vibrant regions.”
Mr Grills said the programs were an important investment for Royalties for Regions, as they provided funding to a wide range of projects that met specific community needs.
“This Royalties for Regions investment is about strengthening and growing regional communities,” he said.
“The outcomes of these projects improve the quality of life in regional communities and help to attract investment and create jobs, which help to build strong regional economies.
“The grants have supported hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional WA in recent years.”
Mr Grills encouraged local community groups to apply for the latest round of funding.
He said recent RGS recipients from the Mining and Pastoral Region, included Esperance Volunteer Sea Search & Rescue Group, which received $300,000 for a new rescue vessel and St John Ambulance Kambalda sub-centre was allocated $130,000 for upgrades.
Mr Grills said recent CCF funding was also awarded to local groups, such as the Goldfields Nullarbor Rangelands Biosecurity Association and Ngnowar Aerwah Aboriginal Corporation.
The RGS and CCF are administered by WA’s nine regional development commissions, with $15 million available under RGS and $5 million under CCF for this round. In December, the Government approved an extra $30 million for two rounds of the RGS and $10 million for two rounds of the CCF.
