An array of community projects across the Goldfields-Esperance region are set to receive a funding boost thanks to the latest round of Community Chest Fund grants, supported by Royalties for Regions.
It was announced today that 23 projects in the region would benefit from the most recent round of the Goldfield-Esperance Community Chest Fund scheme, which provides one-off grants to community, public and not for profit organisations to improve and develop local infrastructure and services.
Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region Dave Grills MLC welcomed the funding announcement and congratulated the successful grant recipients.
“It’s fantastic to see a wide variety of voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations in the region benefit from these grants of up to $50,000 to support vital, community-enhancing local projects,” Mr Grills said.
“Successful grant recipients include the Goldfields Nullarbor Rangelands Biosecurity Association to support the Putting the Pieces Together Conference, the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society to help develop the EGHS website, the Esperance Mechanical Restoration Club to go towards a Machinery Display and Visitor Centre and the Gibson Bush Fire Brigade for the Truck Wash-down area and Shed Extension project.
“I am also pleased that the iconic Saint Barbara’s Festival and Coolgardie Day Celebrations will be supported by this latest round of funding.”
The Community Chest Fund is designed to support locally-driven infrastructure, services and community projects that assist in developing more liveable regions with stronger economies.
Nationals WA Candidate for Roe Peter Rundle said the rolling Community Chest Fund was empowering local communities through support for grassroots-level projects.
“A number of diverse projects and organisations across our region have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years,” Mr Rundle said.
“The latest round of Goldfields-Esperance Community Chest Fund grants will help to attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the region.”
Western Australia’s nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the Community Chest Fund grants.
The Liberal National Government, through the Royalties for Regions program, has invested $10 million into the Community Chest Fund over the next four years.
